I want to stay inside
helping children & vulnerable populations

Within the framework of the Light of The World association, we want to develop a structure that can take in the street children of Kinshasa. It is estimated that around 20,000 children aged 0 to 18 live on the streets of Kinshasa, which itself has a population of over 8,000,000.

History

In 2008, we began regularly visiting Makala prison, as well as Kinshasa's hospitals, retirement homes, street children and orphans.

In 2014, we created the Light of the World association. Street children are cared for and monitored within the Les Enfants Prodigues center.

Several children are baptized, and some return to their families. One of the children, Henoc, trains as a carpenter for two years.

In 2023, our team, accompanied by a nurse, visits the children in the field. We are given a hectare of land and start planting vegetables, in preparation for the center's self-sufficiency project.

In August 2024, a mission is organized to evaluate current projects.

At the end of 2024, we make the first payment of 2,000 thousand dollars for the purchase of a $10,000 20m x 40m plot where we will be able to accommodate the children for the long term.

street children

Faced with extreme poverty, delinquency, drug problems, prostitution and rape, these children are left to fend for themselves. We want to offer them a framework in which they can be reintegrated into their families (close or extended) or even into foster families in accordance with Congolese legislation.

I want to stay inside

Within the framework of the Light of The World association, we want to develop a structure that can take in the street children of Kinshasa. Faced with extreme poverty, delinquency, drug problems, prostitution and rape, these children are left to fend for themselves.

We want to offer them a framework in which they can be reintegrated into their families (close or extended) or even into foster families in accordance with Congolese legislation. Having tasted freedom, it's important to redefine the rules that will enable them to reintegrate. With this in mind, an open house would be the ideal place to start this project. It would welcome the children, wash them, clothe them, feed them and communicate the word of God to them. Literacy courses are also envisaged, as well as educational support or vocational training.

As you can see, we're facing a major challenge, and we believe that, with the help of the Lord Jesus Christ, everything is possible for those who believe. Jesus asks us to think of those who suffer in this world, as he explains in the book of Matthew, chapter twenty-five, verses 34 to 40: "Then the king will say to those on his right hand, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take possession of the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in; I was naked, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came to me.  The righteous will answer him: Lord, when did we see you hungry, and give you something to eat; or thirsty, and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you? When did we see you sick, or in prison, and go to you? And the king shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done these things unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done them unto me."

Visit to Makala prison
Mission (1)
distribution of bread and medicine to prisoners

In August 2024, we were able to visit prisoners at Makala prison in Kinshasa.

We brought just over 400 loaves of bread, as well as medicines and bandages. Thanks also to the team from the association Qui est mon prochain who welcomed us on site.

The needs are enormous, as the prison is overcrowded (over 14,000 prisoners are crammed into it, whereas it was designed for only 1,500).

We plan to send another team soon to bring the Lord's Word and food to the area. Thank you for your support!
